photo fun

One might think you need a fancy and expensive camera to get the beautiful option of sepia tone or black and white. Not true! As long as you have internet, you can transform any color photo easy as 1, 2, 3.
Just create an account at http://www.photobucket.com/ (its free), and start uploading your photo(s). Once photos are uploaded you can use the edit tools to alter the image in many ways! See how great a little change will do? Shown below- my adorable little nephew Maximilian, and one of my favorite photos from my wedding.

ode to amy butler

Amy Butler fabrics are my absolute favorites.  They are so refreshing, so stylish, and so wonderful.  These are some of my particular faves from her current collections.  In the home, these fabrics would be a wonderful way to add a pop of color and interesting pattern- whether it is used on an accent pillow, a roman shade, or even framed and hung on the wall- these designs shout: fun and fresh!  I also like to browse her fabrics when I am looking for a good color palette for a room.  Her color combos are original and unexpected.  Also, check out some pics of inside Amy Butler's own home...I love her mix of textures and as always the blues and greens, which create such a laid back, oceanic feel.

grilled veggie kabobs

My mom recently emailed me a marinade recipe for grilling veggies.  I made them and they were perfection.  I also grilled some salmon to go along with them and served it all with brown wild rice.  Delish.  I think I might just use my grill every night this summer- nothing beats it!  Here is the marinade recipe (I used mushrooms, white onions, and zucchini, but you can add any veggie, really):

Veggie Kebabs
MARINADE
2 TBS Red Wine Vinegar
2 TBS Lemon Juice
3 TBS Olive Oil
1 TBS Fresh Basil, chopped
1 TBS Fresh Parsley, chopped
1 TBS, Dijon mustard
2 clove garlic, minced
salt & pepper to taste

VEGGIES
2 cups zucchini, sliced about 3/4" thick
2 cups mushrooms, halved
2 cups sweet onion, quartered & pulled into chunks 2-3 layers thick

DIRECTIONS
Mix together marinade ingredients.
Chop veggies into similar size pieces and arrange in a shallow pan, preferably in a single layer.
Pour marinade over veggies & refrigerate for 2-4 hours.
Remove veggies from marinade & thread onto 8 skewers. Place skewers on BBQ and grill about 10-15 minutes until tender, brushing occasionally with leftover marinade.
Makes eight one-skewer servings
Number of Servings: 8

Enjoy~
